*New baby Somali wild ass foal born at St. Louis Zoo.

*The Somali wild ass is critically endangered, meaning the species is at very high risk of extinction in the wild. There are probably less than 1000 left in the wild.

*Only four other zoos in North America have bred this species which makes this little foal an important addition.
