“An elderly Bayard man who suffered a heart attack Sunday was saved following treatment from a Bayard police officer and volunteer firefighters. Bayard Police Chief Lee Alirez said that the man was flown out of Gila Regional Medical Center and is doing OK.
According to a press release sent by Alirez, Bayard police and the fire department were dispatched around 8:42 p.m. Sunday to Orchard Street after a 70-year-old man suffered a heart attack and wasn’t breathing. Alirez told the Daily Press that it was a family member who called 911.
Bayard police Sgt. Cody Dove was first to arrive on the scene, where he found the man ‘unresponsive and in full arrest,’ according to the press release. Dove began performing CPR until Bayard Fire Department EMTs arrived, and they ‘continued performing CPR.’”
