Zero Waste crusader wants to make incinerators obsoliete

Good News Notes:

“The St. Lawrence University emeritus professor of environmental chemistry unsuccessfully opposed the plant when it was being built in the 1980s and he hasn’t stopped in his criticism of trash burning plants that emit toxins like arsenic and lead, albeit within legal limits.

But rather than fighting the plant on purely regulatory matters, Connett wants to make the plant and others like it, obsolete through a Zero Waste approach to trash disposal.

He’s one of a number of scientists and thinkers who believe that a global re-set is needed when it comes to how people deal with the tons of waste that communities almost everywhere generate each day.”
