NBA player teams up with local organization to donate laptops for students

Good News Notes:

An NBA player from Central Florida teamed up with a local nonprofit to give back to the community.

Portland Trailblazer player Anfernee Simons, used his nonprofit ‘Be a Light’ to donate 20 new laptops to the One Heart for Women and Children in Orlando.

Simons was born in Altamonte Springs and played high school basketball at Edgewater High in Orlando before going to Monte Verde Academy in Lake County.

One Heart gave those laptops out to children in the community, that are having to rely on computers now more than ever before thanks to remote learning.

‘So one of the families that called, called a couple of weeks ago, and said we need a computer. And we were just starting to set this up. And the excitement was that we were able to say. Absolutely we can help meet that need. Which is what we do here at One Heart,’ Stephanie Bowman, founder and CEO of One Heart, said.”
