Fast food chains testing reusable packaging to cut down on waste

Burger King is the latest of fast-food chain experimenting with reusable packaging for sandwiches, soft drinks, and coffee to cut down on waste winding up in landfills. The creator of The Whopper is among a growing list of food service chains partnering with TerraCycle’s zero-waste delivery platform, known as Loop.

‘[W]e’re investing in the development of sustainable packaging solutions that will help push the food service industry forward in reducing packaging waste,’ Matthew Banton, head of innovation and sustainability at Burger King, said in the statement. ‘The Loop system gives us the confidence in a reusable solution that meets our high safety standards, while also offering convenience for our guests on the go.'”
