Green Bay trucking company donates 52 bikes to charity

Good News Notes:

The past year has been a good one for Contract Transport Services, a Green Bay-based trucking company.

‘From a business standpoint, we were extremely busy,’ said Curt Reitz, the president of CTS, where some of the company’s business involves hauling toilet paper.

‘For some unknown reason people thought toilet paper was valued like gold.’

However, the hurdles of 2020, including COVID-19 and protests against systemic racism, changed the way CTS shared its hard-earned toilet paper money with the community this year.

For the last five years the trucking company has donated bikes to children associated with the PALS Program, a program that pairs children with adult volunteers, and Foundation Health and Wholeness, a non-profit that offers counseling services and provides homes for foster kids during the holiday season.

This year they donated 52 bikes.

In previous years, CTS held an event at the end of the year for children involved in these programs to come and pick their own bike. This year, because of the health risks of COVID-19 the bikes were sent to PALS and Foundation Health to be distributed to deserving kids.

Reitz said they have donated more than 100 bikes in previous years. He attributed the reduced participation to COVID-19 and lower participation from vendors.”
