Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donate $1 million to food charities in US, Canada

Ryan Reynolds  and Blake Lively donated $500,000 each to two organizations fighting hunger in the U.S. and Canada amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. 

The couple made the donations to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. In a statement released by Feeding America on Twitter, the couple said that they are ‘honored and privileged’ to support the charities.

‘We know the struggles so many of our neighbors faced last year are not over, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help food banks across the U.S. and Canada to be able to provide nourishing meals to people in need,’ Reynolds and Lively said in the statement. 

Food Banks Canada also thanked the couple on Twitter, lauding Reynolds as their ‘favourite Canadian.’ The charity joked that the ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Deadpool’ star is their ‘favourite superhero,’ apologizing to actor Hugh Jackman, who has portrayed the superhero Wolverine. “
