Dunkin’ debuts new sip lid for sweet cold foam drinks, continues testing biodegradable straws at Massachusetts locations

Good News Notes:

Dunkin’s drinks might look a little different starting Wednesday, as the company introduces a new type of lid.

The new sip lid is designed specifically for sweet cold foam drinks, which also debuts nationwide on Wednesday.

‘The sip lids are a great innovation to introduce with our sweet cold foam because they enhance the sipping experience by allowing guests to enjoy layers of our rich cold brew and velvety sweet cold foam in every sip,’ the company told MassLive in a statement.

The strawless lids are similar to those at Starbucks, which were introduce in 2018. The initiative was used to move away from plastic straws.

‘This month, we will complete our rollout of lightweight, strawless lids to stores in the US and Canada, eliminating an estimated 1 billion single-use plastic straws a year,’ Starbucks tweeted in September.

Although straws are still available by request.

Dunkin’, which is also working to become more ‘environmentally friendly,’ nixed its styrofoam coffee cups in favor of

double-walled paper cups

in 2019. It also began testing out biodegradable straws at 46 locations in Massachusetts.”
