Lundqvist, Garden of Dreams pledge $100,000 to fight food insecurity

Henrik Lundqvist is pitching in to help New Yorkers dealing with food insecurity.

The former New York Rangers goalie, who is a free agent, is teaming up with the Garden of Dreams Foundation to donate $100,000 to organizations that provide food to those in need.

Lundqvist announced the donation in a video on his social media channels on Wednesday.

“You know, it’s been a challenging year for a lot of people around the world, and especially in New York,” Lundqvist said in the video. “One in three children in NYC are now food insecure. The number of New Yorkers food insecurity has raised into nearly 1.6 million; a 44 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic. New York City’s average cost per meal is 26 percent higher than the national average. This all means many parents are struggling to put food on the table to feed their children….”
