Local nonprofit creates book to teach kids about kindness

Good News Notes:

2020 Was an incredibly tough year for many but it did spark some positivity as community members, neighbors and complete strangers made small acts of kindness to help one another. Local nonprofit, Cuddles For Kids, hopes to continue this trend starting with the youngest members of the community.

Connor Hagins, the founder of Cuddles For Kids, created a coloring and activity book called ‘Lessons in Kindness’ that teaches kids about kindness. Hagins has donated some of the books to local elementary schools such as Ferndale and Divine Mercy Catholic Academy.

‘It’s important to teach them that kindness isn’t something that’s real big and real difficult to do it’s just a simple gesture it’s just maybe saying hi to someone in the hall or maybe even do something nice for someone. And I hope that it’s a ripple effect that it starts with one of them,’ said Hagins.

When asked what they thought kindness was some of the students at Divine Mercy Catholic Academy had a couple different answers based on what they learned in the book.”
