“Motivated by demand from U.S. retailers, a Richardson-based packaging company has received a recycled-content certification to make bags and mailers out of plastic trash harvested from beaches and waterways.
Richardson-based Metropak is making the bags and shipping mailers made of materials gathered in Haiti, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and the Dominican Republic.
The products, which are also recyclable after they deliver the goods to customers, are being made at its local facility in Richardson.”
