Prince Charles launches pricey ‘sustainable’ fashion line

Good News Notes:

Britain’s 71-year-old heir-to-the-throne launched a line of designer duds on Thursday — with suitably princely price tags.

The Prince’s Foundation launched the line of 10 pieces as part of the hip-sounding Modern Artisan project with Italian retail group Yoox Net-A-Porter (YNAP).

They include a $1,550 cashmere men’s bomber jacket, cashmere overcoats for $1,495 as well as a $1,350 women’s suit fittingly in a Prince of Wales check.

‘The Modern Artisan project was born out of a mutual interest in sustainable fashion between HRH The Prince of Wales, president of The Prince’s Foundation, and Federico Marchetti, chairman and CEO of YNAP,’ Charle’s foundation said.

‘Sustainability is at the very heart of the collection, reflecting the shared values of The Prince’s Foundation whose President, HRH The Prince of Wales, has championed action for a sustainable future for more than four decades,’ the Prince’s Foundation said.

Six Italian students from Politecnico di Milano led the design team, with four Britons getting trained in the process of ‘crafting the majority of the collection by hand.’

The UK trainees were based in the stately Dumfries House, where Charles regularly checked in on them, the Glasgow Times said.”
