“Thousands of toys were donated to the Banner Children’s at Desert on Wednesday as part of the Armer Foundation’s annual toy drive to help families and children who face extreme medical conditions.
Two large box trucks full of toys were dropped off at the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit in Mesa. The estimate 10,000 donations included stuffed animals, dolls, books, puzzles, board games and bikes, which will be given to children who undergo medical treatment at the hospital.
According to Jennifer Armer, founder of Armer Foundation, the Wednesday event was the largest one since the toy drives started three years ago.
“It was amazing,” she said. “We meant to fill only one box truck, and we filled two.”
According to Jenn Hansen, child life specialist at Banner Desert, the toys will help kids to feel “normal” while many go through hard procedures….”
