Aldi commits to only selling plastic-free wipes

Good News Notes:

The switch will see all the wipes across its Mamia baby, Lacura beauty and household ranges chage to 100% plant-based fibres, making them all biodegradable.

Aldi estimates the move will prevent the equivalent of 7,000 tonnes of single-use plastic from going to landfill each year.

Richard Gorman, Plastics and Packaging Director at Aldi, said: “Moving to biodegradable wipes is another step forward in our commitment to reduce plastic across our ranges.

“It’s becoming increasingly important to our customers that their everyday products are environmentally friendly, and we’re pleased that this move will help them on their journey.”

This follows a similar move from Tesco as it commits to a nationwide ban on plastic wet wipes in stores in March.

The move is the latest in Aldi’s efforts to reduce and remove unnecessary plastic from its products….”
