Police rescue man from water at Saugatuck Shores Beach in Westport

Good News Notes:

“Police say they pulled a man from the waters of Saugatuck Shores Beach early Tuesday morning.

Just before 6 a.m., police responded to the Saugatuck Shores Beach on a report of a missing older adult, Lt. David Wolf said. Several officers began searching the area and soon found the missing man, partially submerged in the water, Wolf said.

Wolf said officers used a nearby canoe to reach the man in the cold water. One of the officers held the man’s head above water while several others lifted him into the canoe, Wolf said. He was brought to shore, where fire crews helped bring him to an ambulance.

Medics evaluated the man at the scene and took him to the hospital for further treatment. Wolf said while the man’s condition was not immediately known, any injuries he sustained appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Police Chief Fotis Koskinas in a statement praised the officers for the quick rescue….”
